Everyone has heard that old saying: “If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it’s a duck,” right?
Under this criteria, President Trump must be a duck.
On August 29, Donald Trump ducked a question about Kyle Rittenhouse, the white teenager and Trump supporter who allegedly shot three people, two fatally, with a semi-automatic rifle in Kenosha, Wisc. The shooting occurred during protests, which were a reaction to the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake’s shooting is the latest flashpoint in a series of high profile police shootings of African American men and women that have resulted in near continuous nation-wide protests of police brutality since May.
A reporter asked about Rittenhouse, and, in response, Trump said this: “You know that’s under investigation right now, and they’ll be reporting back to me… 48 hours maybe max and we’ll have a comment about it… We’re looking at it very, very carefully.”
Trump traveled to Kenosha on September 1 “very, very carefully” to meet with law enforcement and review damages from the recent protests.
